I live on Merseyside with my partner and our wonderful children, having relocated from London for family reasons and currently work as a Copy Writer for a leading retailer and wholesaler of power tools. Before I took this role, I was responsible for Marketing at Precision Pneumatics and its sister company Wearside Pneumatics and had three and a half happy years as part of a successful and award-winning business.
Prior to moving to the North West, I had worked for the Middlesex Football Association for five and a half years, initially as Communications & Marketing Officer before taking over responsibility for managing the Association’s Cup Competitions. During my time with Middlesex, I was a significant member of the working group which revamped the websites for the 50 County Football Associations; Middlesex were the second county to launch their new site and much of the site structure and content I put in place at that time remains in place today.
Football has always been a passion of mine; I am a Vice-President of Ashford Town (Middlesex) FC, having been involved with the club for a decade. When I was actively helping with the running of the club, I was able to secure significant levels of grant funding to improve its facilities and led its conversion into a Limited Company. I provide remote support in terms of managing the club’s website and administering the Company.
Since moving, I have been assisting Prescot Cables FC, who are my local senior club, by designing and editing their matchday programme; I took on the programme in January 2017 but relinquished the Editor’s role in October 2019 for personal reasons. I continue to write for The Walloper and manage the club website.
Before football became my occupation as well as my hobby, I had worked in retail for almost fifteen years, ten of which were spent in management roles. Retail was an interesting career which included some interesting career development options, including further study; in 2009, I completed a Foundation Degree in Retail Operations and People Management from the University of West London whilst also working full-time.
After my initial career change, I returned to part-time education in 2014, studying an Open Degree with the Open University in an effort to build on the Foundation Degree. I completed the programme of study in May 2017.
