During the time I worked with the Middlesex County Football Association, my role evolved quite significantly but one element never changed – I was always writing and / or editing!

I joined in 2010 as the Communications and Marketing Officer and took on responsibility for preparing Cup Final Programmes, developing a suite of newsletters and a weekly newsletter which was sent to the Association’s Council and Senior Clubs. Here’s an example of one of those newsletters from 2013:

Later that year, my role merged with that of the Competitions Officer and I took on the newly created position of Competitions & Communications Officer which combined many of my original tasks with responsibility for managing the various County Cups in the County. I continued to compile the various publications the Association put out each year, including the Annual Review, match programmes and event brochures. Some examples of these projects, showcasing my writing, editing and design skills can be seen below:

During my time at the Middlesex FA, the Cup Final Programmes were particularly well received and won several national awards due to the high quality of the written content and visual presentation. Given that I would have to produce 25 individual issues in a six-week period, this recognition was especially pleasing. The ‘roll of honour’ during this period is as follows:

2010-11: 1st Special Issues Category, Ranked 38th Nationally, Soccer Club Swap Shop Awards (Middlesex Senior Cup Final)
2012-13: Merit Award, Soccer Club Swap Shop Awards (Middlesex Senior Cup Final)
2013-14: Merit Award, Soccer Club Swap Shop Awards (Middlesex Senior Cup Final), Women’s Football Merit Award, Soccer Club Swap Shop Awards (Capital Women’s Cup Finals)
2014-15: Merit Award, Soccer Club Swap Shop Awards (Middlesex Senior Cup Final)
